Jan. 21--After two years of planning and public protest, the City Council approved the routing of a power line through environmentally sensitive land in northwestern Bexar County.

The vote came after four hours of public comment Thursday night and into Friday morning. Most of the comments were against City Public Service running the 60-mile 345-kilovolt Cagnon-Kendall transmission line along Government Canyon State Natural Area, on land that voters had chosen to set aside for parks.
