Jan. 18--The Kansas City community may soon begin a process of resolving the fate of the Royals and Chiefs stadiums -- but only if the teams cooperate.
The Royals and the Chiefs are in serious discussions with Jackson County officials about postponing the county's stadium maintenance obligations for one year.
If that happens, the one-year period would be used for city and county leaders to decide the best long-term plan for the teams -- build a new downtown ballpark for the Royals with comparable improvements for the Chiefs, or go back to the idea of upgrading the Truman Sports Complex for both teams.
