Surely by now you've heard about the cardiovascular benefits strongly linked to the antioxidants in red wine. Not to mention green tea. But--if British researchers can confirm an earlier study--the even greater heart benefits from pomegranates may make them the new superfood. Scientists in Haifa Israel, had round back in the year 2000 that drinking a glass of pomegranate juice daily can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Compounds in pomegranates were found to reduce the retention of LDL--or "bad" cholesterol--and to cut oxidation of cholesterol by half.
