PALO ALTO, Calif. _ Tim Montgomery could not sleep before the 100-meter final at last year's U.S. championships because he was so unnerved by the thought he could upset Olympic champion Maurice Greene.
Greene won.
Montgomery could rest easier this year because Greene decided not to defend his U.S. title, since he is an automatic qualifier for the August world championships as reigning world champ.
