"Lackluster," Aaron Sprinkle (Tooth & Nail) _ 3 { stars

Aaron Sprinkle rose to moderate fame as guitarist for the rock band Poor Old Lu. He's also released three solo albums. Now he's one of the main producers at Tooth & Nail Records.

The problem with his first three albums was that no one knew about them because he signed with a small recording label. Now that he's on a larger label, people may finally get to examine this jewel in Christian rock.

This album is mostly a compilation of songs from the first three releases with a new one thrown in the mix.

Sprinkle's a talented songwriter and guitar player with an unusual wispy, almost androgynous vocal style. You don't hear many like him on the radio and especially in the Christian music genre. His songs are built around acoustic guitar and have a folk/rock flavor. The lyrics are obtuse, but you can glean a Christian message if you listen closely.
