The two most important challenges facing the ports and industry in Sydney continue to be the security of port facilities and the capacity to handle the growing increase in trade.

Port stakeholders are working together on "whole of port" security assessments concentrating on rail, road and sea entry points to ensure compliance with international security legislation. Planning is well advanced to ensure these assessments are completed by the July 1 deadline.
