Remember the children's fable "Stone Soup"? A hungry drifter wanders into a small town and befriends an elderly woman. She offers him some hot water because he is cold. He tells her that if she puts a stone in the water, it would add flavor. Then the drifter asks her to add a carrot, an onion, a potato, etc. By end of the story, he has tricked her into making a beef and vegetable stew.
This is kind of what happened to me recently.
