Jan. 13--Testing has trickled down to kindergarten, nudging aside finger painting, snacks and nap time.
It is reading, mathematics, character education and standards-based tests for youngsters at California School in West Covina.
For the first time, kindergartners at the elementary school are taking tests the West Covina Unified School District designed to assess student progress.
"At first the teachers were a little nervous about it," said Principal Mary Donielson. "But it's important for us to know where the children are at."
