Jan. 10--State Department of Education officials said Thursday that they haven't calculated the full impact that a defeat of next month's Measure 30 tax referendum would have on public schools budgets.
But they took pains to make clear that an Education Department document's description of a $414 million cut overstates the likely impact of the tax measure's defeat.
That report, made public Wednesday, described the impact of two different cut levels: a $414 million reduction and one of $285 million.
