NEW ORLEANS _ Oklahoma defensive end Dan Cody can still see the 35 points glowing on the scoreboard for Kansas State at the end of the Sooners' loss in the Big 12 Championship.
He nearly had to wipe his eyes to believe it.
"It was pretty sickening," Cody said. "There was one point where I looked up and said this has to be a bad dream. I never thought that would happen."
The Sooners boasted one of the most feared defenses in the land before Kansas State shredded it for four touchdowns (a fifth came on an interception return).
That failure leaves Oklahoma feeling it must prove itself as it prepares to meet LSU at the Nokia Sugar Bowl on Sunday.
"You had to blink a couple times to see if the score was right," defensive tackle Tommie Harris said. "Hopefully, on Sunday, we can redeem ourselves."
