PASADENA, Calif. _ They wanted rage. He gave them calm.
They wanted verbal gunfire. He gave them blanks.
They wanted USC coach Pete Carroll to rail about the injustice of the BCS. He smiled and happily stuck a split national championship in his back pocket.
USC 28, Michigan 14 in the Rose Bowl, and those so worked up about the BCS should quit the proselytizing and listen to what Carroll and his Trojans had to say in the aftermath of their dominating victory.
