You know the drill. The Raiders are looking for a head coach for their traveling circus, and managing general curator Al Davis doesn't do brain trust. The Raiders were, are and will continue to be Al's team, run Al's way, on Al's timetable, in Al's budgetary comfort zone.

So there will be no Jerry Jones-type epiphany in Oakland. There will be no big name coach, introduced with a big name splash, coming in at a big name salary, entrusted with big name authority. The 2004 Oakland squad likely will be coached by someone you've never heard of, or someone you've heard of but never paused to seriously contemplate.
