PASADENA, Calif. _ Southern Cal was criticized during bowl week for playing inferior opponents. Critics said the Trojans' Pacific-10 Conference foes were too small on the offensive line.
On Thursday, the Michigan Wolverines, whose line averages more than 300 pounds and has a few NFL prospects, couldn't stop the Trojans.
Michigan's line, which had allowed just 15 sacks the entire season, was burned five times in the first half and nine for the game.
It was the most sacks the Trojans had in a game this season. It was also the most Michigan surrendered this season, surpassing the five it gave up to Oregon.
