ELK GROVE, IL -- Electric City announced September 16 that the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services had agreed to participate in the development of an estimated $25 million, 50 megawatt (MW) power curtailment system for Commonwealth Edison (ComEd).
The Illinois agreement includes all of the appropriate facilities owned and operated by the State of Illinois Central Management Services Dept. in the ComEd service territory. It is expected that well over 30 buildings will ultimately be included in the project.
The State of Illinois is Electric City's largest single customer to date for the ComEd demand response system, according to John Mitola, CEO of Electric City Corp. It brings the company approximately halfway to its 50-MW goal.
