Dec. 4--NANTUCKET, Mass.--Island officials and Steamship Authority personnel are scrambling to meet transportation needs for one of Nantucket's major festivals this weekend.
With the boat line's fast ferry Flying Cloud out of service indefinitely because of a damaged engine and a hole in its hull sustained in a storm Tuesday night, the Authority is looking at options to help provide adequate ferry service to Nantucket for the 30th Christmas Stroll, which kicks off tomorrow.
Authority spokeswoman Paula Peters said yesterday that vessels may be redeployed to provide more coverage for Nantucket-bound passengers.
