QUESTION: I am a 50-year-old woman who has been diagnosed as glucose intolerant. I want to start exercising after work, but I am always starving and blood sugars are dropping. If I went to work out, I would never have enough steam to get through. What would be a good snack to eat? I try to limit my carb intake, and I want to be able to go home afterward and have a decent meal.

ANSWER: I'd suggest a "balanced" snack that consists of quality carbs and protein with minimal fats, processed sugar, flour and additives. Your meal after your workout should follow the same guidelines.
