A tight job market has extended the job search for those recently unemployed, increasing the gap on their resume from when they last worked.
That gap doesn't always bode well with prospective employers, especially if it's more than six months, according to Plano, Texas-based Kaye/Bassman International, a network affiliate of Management Recruiters International.
"Everyone knows it's tough out there, but being unemployed for a lengthy period of time still raises an eyebrow with employers," says Jeff Kaye, chief executive of Kaye/Bassman.
