Florida State wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe, who broke the tibia and fibula in his right leg on Nov. 15, watched Saturday's game against Florida from his family's home in Tallahassee. Watching his teammates play without him proved especially difficult.
"I sat back and tried to watch as much as possible," he said. "It was kind of rough at times trying to watch it. Sometimes I just wanted to turn the channel. It's tough watching everybody else playing. It might have been better if I could have been down there with the team."
Thorpe glowed, however, when he recounted how many of his teammates called him after the game.
He said his doctor told him he is healing "ahead of schedule," and that the pain in his leg has not been severe. Still, such mundane tasks as moving from one point to another has been difficult.
"I'm a pretty well-conditioned athlete, but walking around on these crutches, it's a whole other ballgame," Thorpe said.
