Nov. 12--The fact that journalist Joshua Marshall is going to New Hampshire to cover the presidential primary is not unusual.

The fact that he raised the money to do so from readers of his Web site -- in less than 24 hours -- is unusual.

Around 3 p.m. on Oct. 26, Marshall asked readers of his Web log, or "blog," TalkingPointsMemo.com, to donate money for a January trip to cover the New Hampshire race. TPM is one of the Web's most popular political blogs -- it had almost 350,000 readers in October -- so Marshall was confident he'd eventually reach his fundraising goal.

But he had no idea he'd reach it by lunchtime the next day.
