High school retires Allen Iverson's number.

HAMPTON, Va. _ Allen Iverson last played this house 10 years ago. Check that. Allen Iverson didn't merely play this house. He owned this house.

His house was the gymnasium at Bethel High School. He was 17 then, fast, raw and oh-so-spectacular, unlike anything we had ever seen.

Thursday night, Iverson returned, and to no one's surprise, he still owned the house.

The occasion was the 10th anniversary of Bethel's 1993 state basketball championship, and the school celebrated the milestone by retiring Iverson's No. 3 jersey at halftime of the Bruins' game against Heritage.
