The Wichita Eagle, Kan. Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Feb. 7--BUSINESS: Alterations by Sarah, 1208 S. Rock Road, 2250 N. Rock Road, 10555 W. 21st St.

PROBLEM: Trend toward casual wear in business attire led to flattening of growth curve.

SOLUTION: Owner Sarah Arif now markets the idea of customers expanding their wardrobe through alterations.

"The major focus of our efforts is (to) aim at people who have lost or gained weight," Arif said. "This segment of the public oftentimes gets frustrated when their clothes do not fit and spend major dollars in purchasing new clothes. As a result, almost everyone has items of clothing hanging in the closet that they do not wear for (a) variety of reasons."
