MIAMI _ Pondering anything about Colorado Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy these days is to consider something big. Not just normal big, but mind-bendingly big, can-see-the-curvature-of-the-earth big.
That's the case whether one takes in Roy's statistics, his longevity and stature or his influence on the modern NHL. He'll appear in his 11th All-Star Game on Sunday thanks more to reputation than his performance this season, but it wouldn't seem right without him.
"The thing I like the most about him is he's consistent year after year in having playoff success," Ottawa goalie Patrick Lalime said after calling Roy his favorite player. "He's a winner."
