FORT WORTH, Texas _ The Stars hit this weekend's All-Star break as the best team in the NHL, the Presidents' Trophy solidly in their sights and the Stanley Cup on their minds. So, does head coach Dave Tippett relax and put it in cruise-control for the second half of the season?
He'd rather have ice chips slipped down his shorts, thank you very much.
"The old thing about if it's not broke, don't fix it? I always go by the rule, `If it's not broke, you haven't looked hard enough,' " Tippett said before four of his Stars flew to Florida for the weekend's All-Star festivities. "We've played games that have really looked good, but, when I look at the tapes, I can usually find something I'd like to see us do better."
Mike Modano, Bill Guerin and Marty Turco play in the All-Star Game on Sunday, and rookie Niko Kapanen played in the Young Guns game Saturday.
The Stars lead the NHL with 72 points, and Tippett is pleased with how the team has performed. But he also knows that it must still get better.
