FORT LAUDERDALE _ Marty Turco will be playing in his first All-Star game on Sunday, but he knows what he and the other five goalies face.
An average of 86 shots have been taken and 15.1 goals scored in the last 10 All-Star games as defense and checks are dropped and goalies abandoned as defenders join the offensive attacks.
Turco believes that kind of abuse deserves special treatment. "They should shower us with gifts," the Dallas goalie said.
Martin Brodeur has played in six All-Star games and still is not used to the offensive onslaught he will face during the game at the Office Depot Center.
"It's kind of scary, 20,000 people just watching you try and stop the best players in the game," the Devils' Brodeur said.
There is no reason to expect that to change on Sunday, as both defenders and shooters predicted another wide-open affair.
