Reports about the intent behind the FBI order to field supervisors to count the mosques and Muslims in their areas creates a duality that Americans must grapple with in the post-Sept. 11 era. On the one hand is the fact that we are in a war against terrorism, and the most viable threats today come from Muslim extremists. So it would be inexcusably remiss of the FBI not to be fully informed about Muslims here.
