SAN DIEGO _ Three conversations. Those are all Rod Woodson recalls having with the 73-year-old mysterious maverick who has spent four decades working to maintain the greatness of the Raid-ahs.
"I just got hurt, and he said, `Well, I'm scared to ask if you're OK,"" said the 37-year-old starting safety in his first Oakland season. "And after our (AFC) Championship Game, he said, `Feels good, doesn't it?' And I said, `Yes, sir.' And he walked away. Briefly, before I talked to the media when I first got here he said, `Be careful what you say.' And I said, `Yes, sir.' And he hung up the phone. So I don't know what the guy is like."
