1. VESSELINA KASAROVA, fresh from a January run as Covent Gardens Cenerentola, is currently on a European recital tour, with stops scheduled in Dortmund, Germany (Feb. 9), Basel (15), Lisbon (18), Berlin (21) and Zurich (24). In March, the mezzo returns to Rossini, with Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri for La Scala (March 8-April 1). June finds her back in Zurich, where her Dulcinee will dazzle Massenet's Don Quichotte at the Opernhaus.

2. In mid-autumn, Metropolitan Opera general manager JOSEPH VOLPE met with DAVID J. O'REILLY, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of CHEVRONTEXACO, to accept a check for $2 million, as the final installment in the corporation's $10 million pledge to the Met's endowment fund. Continuing a tradition begun in 1940, ChevronTexaco is again sponsoring the Met's Saturday afternoon radio broadcasts.
