Jan. 17--What's the price of diversity?
Try $12,058.
That's how much Denver School of the Arts -- competitive, acclaimed and mostly white -- is spending to recruit and retain minority students this year.
It's working, administrators from the middle- and high-school magnet program told the school board Thursday.
Last year, 560 students applied, and 33 percent of them were non-Anglo. This year, 870 applied, and 42 percent were minorities.
DSA does not use admission quotas, but it does want to make sure kids from all backgrounds and neighborhoods…
