Jan. 9--Married life is taking the executive director of the state Boxing Commission out of the ring.

Shawn Lemmond, the commission's first director, serves his last official day on the job on Friday, though he's offered to work part time until his successor is chosen.

"I want to go off and start a family, and it's kind of nice to be at home in the evening," Lemmond said. "Boxing matches until 2 a.m. in the morning are not a good thing for family life."

In September, Lemmond married Julie Robertson, who worked for the N.C. Partnership for Children. …
