IRVING, Texas _ The Dallas Cowboys will introduce Bill Parcells, who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants and took New England to another, as the sixth coach in franchise history on Thursday.
The Dallas Morning News reported Monday that Parcells had agreed to a four-year deal that would pay him between $16 million and $18 million, giving him the ability to hire and fire assistant coaches along with a strong say in personnel. Parcells confirmed his hiring on Wednesday.
"You know, this is important to both Jerry and me," Parcells told ESPN. "We don't want to fail. It has got to work, and I feel good about it. Jerry has invested a lot in the Cowboys, and the thing that drives him more than anything else is his desire to win. That's the biggest common (denominator) we both have."
