For wild-card teams, the road to the Super Bowl is filled with potholes. Usually they have struggled somewhere in the long season, and often they back into the playoffs, as the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns did this time around.
Those drawbacks are by no means insurmountable, though. Where there are potholes there are also off-road vehicles, rugged, tested and built to keep going even if the road ends.
Eight times wild-card teams have advanced to the Super Bowl, and four times those teams have won it. That unlikely occurrence has happened twice in the last six seasons, with Denver in 1997 and Baltimore in 2000.
This weekend is about the possibility of it happening in Super Bowl XXXVII.
Which team would you pick? The Colts? The Falcons? The Giants? The Browns?
If you're an Eagles fan, Saturday night's game between Atlanta (9-6-1) and Green Bay (12-4) is definitely one of interest. If the sixth-seeded Falcons are somehow able to upset the Packers, the Birds will go against Atlanta in the divisional playoff round.
