JACKSONVILLE, Fla. _ It was the biggest win in N.C. State's football history.
And it was a drubbing.
N.C. State pounded Notre Dame, 28-6, on Wednesday afternoon in the Gator Bowl.
The Wolfpack did it by out-thinking, outplaying and outhitting America's most famous college football team.
This was no fluke. This was N.C. State shoving Notre Dame around in what turned into a virtual home game in Raleigh; of the 73,491 fans, at least 40,000 wore red. By the end of the game, N.C. State fans outnumbered their counterpart 20-1.
Those fans shared the desserts of a delicious N.C. State season that featured a school-record 11 wins and a flourish of a finish _ back-to-back wins over Florida State and Notre Dame by a combined score of 45-13.
