MIAMI _ The Orange Bowl Classic on Thursday night? No stakes but plenty of sizzle. A circus, even without the rings.
South Florida is the capital of college football, twice, as 2003 gets rolling _ mainly with the University of Miami bull's-eyeing another national championship out near Phoenix, but not insignificantly with the Orange presenting Iowa and Southern California in what might be the best game of any bowl.
The OBC is not the Other Bowl Classic. Not this time. The former Joe Robbie Stadium plays host to a 69th edition of the Orange that stands on its own, a matchup that need not curtsy to anyone. Iowa Hawkeyes vs. USC Trojans weighs in as an authentic heavyweight spectacle even as most eyes rivet to the Fiesta, this season's designated (and undisputed) championship game.
