MIAMI _ Iowa fans who believe in tradition and, more likely, had non-refundable tickets to California were irate that the Hawkeyes were selected to play in the Orange Bowl against USC instead of the Rose Bowl.
Their quarterback, however, was thrilled.
"My pops, he didn't have to worry about getting on a plane," Brad Banks said Tuesday. "He hates flying."
Thursday's Orange Bowl might seem like a home game for Iowa because of all the Hawkeyes fans expected in Pro Player Stadium, but it really will be one for Banks, whose final college game will be his first in his home state.
