PROVIDENCE, R.I. _ The fight for democracy in China has taken its toll on Xu Wenli. The dissident spent the past four years in prison for organizing a political party _ a movement that the government considered a threat to state security.
In prison, Xu lost most of his teeth from malnutrition, contracted a liver disease and was denied medication for his illness, his family said.
