TAMPA, Fla. _ Pardon the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they scoff at the Michael Vick hype. And pardon the Atlanta Falcons if they dread a possible playoff encounter with the Bucs.

Tampa's defense smothered Vick during a 34-10 victory Sunday, marking the second time this season Vick, football's fastest quarterback, has been more DIH (deer in headlights) than MVP against the Bucs.

With a fierce pass rush from the line, uncommon speed from the linebackers and blanket coverage in the secondary, Tampa (10-3) overwhelmed Vick and the Falcons (8-4-1) to seize command of the NFC South race.
