ANAHEIM, Calif. _ Chicago Blackhawks rookie goaltender Craig Andersson was part of history Sunday night in his first NHL start. But it was the kind of history he would just as soon not have any part of.
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks scored three times in the first 7 minutes 24 seconds of the game _ a club record for the three fastest goals _ and held on for a 3-2 victory.
The loss was the sixth on the seven-game road trip that concluded Sunday. At 10-11-3, the Hawks returned to Chicago under .500 for the first time since Oct. 24, when they were 2-3.
"We deserved to win three or four (on the trip)," Blackhawks coach Brian Sutter said. "Am I going to hang my head? No. We have to stay the course."
Andersson, who was called up Tuesday, made his first NHL start. Considering the Hawks had just two points in the first six games of the trip and No. 1 goalie Jocelyn Thibault played just half of Saturday's 4-1 loss at Los Angeles, it was an interesting choice.
The Hawks immediately put Andersson under the gun. Kyle Calder took a tripping penalty 28 seconds into the game and on the second shot Andersson saw, Paul Kariya whistled the puck over his right shoulder at 1:55 to make it 1-0.
In the last three games not started by Thibault, the Hawks have trailed after 10 seconds, 14 seconds and 1:55.
