Sharks fire Darryl Sutter.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)
SAN JOSE, Calif. _ The San Jose Sharks fired Coach Darryl Sutter on Sunday, less than 24 hours after a loss that sank the team to the bottom of the Pacific Division.
General Manager Dean Lombardi and team president Greg Jamison said a few factors were behind the dismissal but cited only the team's inconsistent play and poor record after rosy preseason expectations.
Some players were shocked by the dismissal of the franchise's most successful coach and his two assistants, Rich Preston and Lorne Molleken.
