SAN FRANCISCO_For some time, 49ers punt returner Jimmy Williams has practiced the high-step move.
"Just in case," he said with a smile.
Williams finally got to use it Sunday when he returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown, which turned out to be a critical score in the 31-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
A sluggish start had left the 49ers with a 7-3 lead late in the second quarter when the defense stopped the Seahawks near midfield.
Like always, Williams got the feeling as he jogged onto the field for the punt return. It was a subtle feeling, more like a "mental state," Williams said, that this would be the punt he'd return for ...
