PHILADELPHIA _ Fifteen months ago, the road to Super Bowl XXXIV started here, with a gritty, hard-fought overtime victory by the Rams over Philadelphia.
But on Sunday, the road to the playoffs hit a dead end. Sputtering their way to a season-high five turnovers, and with a near-franchise record eight sacks allowed, the Rams went quietly into the night. Their 10-3 loss Sunday to the Eagles at Veterans Stadium all but eliminated the Rams from playoff contention.
"I don't know. The math still has to be done," wide receiver Isaac Bruce said, when asked about the playoff picture.
But the math isn't pretty. At 5-7, the Rams are a long shot for the postseason.
After winning five consecutive games under Marc Bulger, the defending NFC champions are in this predicament after losing to quarterbacks named Danny Wuerffel and A.J. Feeley on back-to-back Sundays.
