ST. LOUIS _ Mary Whitehead never figured she'd have to face her fear of flying. Until now.
"I didn't think I would ever do anything important enough that I'd have to get on a plane," said Whitehead, who was homeless until donations poured in because she helped save a woman from a burning truck earlier this year.
Her heroism is getting national attention now, with an invitation to be spokeswoman for a community awards program.
Whitehead and news cameraman Bobby Hughes of KTVI, who joined her in the rescue July 10, will be flown to New York next week to tell their story to reporters from across the country.
