What a joy it is to listen to Michael Schade! This tenor of German-Canadian descent has it all: a silken voice, clear, expressive diction in German, Italian and French, and a fully integrated sense of drama and humor. This unabashedly Byronic recording of love songs, which is unified by those occasions when composers and their poets named their generally unnamed eternal beloveds, reprises a program Schade presented (with pianist Graham Johnson) at Alice Tully Hall in February 2001.
