Defense Department Chooses Pentagon Rebuilders.

Sep. 20--The Defense Department has hired a British construction giant to rebuild the portion of the Pentagon that terrorists destroyed last week, and a Colorado company to continue the ongoing renovation of the massive compound.

AMEC PLC, a British conglomerate, will rebuild the section of the building that was destroyed when a hijacked commercial airliner slammed into it Sept. 11.

The section comprises all of one side and a small portion of a second side of the five-sided building. Each side, which officials call "wedges," features more than 1 million square feet of space.
