Oct. 25--Anthony Scalpati could have stopped to buy gasoline at any one of several gas stations on his way to Brick yesterday, but the 20-year-old stopped at the Wawa on Route 34 in Wall.
Part of the reason was the price, $1.06 per gallon for regular, said Scalpati, who lives in Long Branch.
Stacy Kmiec was headed in the opposite direction on Route 34, to her home in Old Bridge.
"There are other gas stations on my way home," the 28-year-old said. "I choose this one because it's cheaper."
As they have wherever they have opened, WaWa's newest station is a blessing for motorists and a curse for the competition.…
