Greensboro, N.C.-Based Cone Mills Corp. to Exit Khaki Business.

Oct. 31--Cone Mills Corp., a denim-fabrics manufacturer and commission-printer of home-furnishings fabrics in Greensboro, said yesterday it would get out of the khaki business.

The announcement was made as Cone released its third quarter results.

Cone said that sales in its khaki business, which has been losing about $1 million every quarter in recent years, declined by 50 percent for the third quarter.

Cone reported a loss of $4.6 million, or 22 cents a share, for the quarter, compared to net income of $1.4 million, or 2 cents a share, for the same period in 2000.
