North Carolina's Wake Forest University Opens Business Incubator.

Nov. 14--Winston-Salem's much-awaited business incubator was officially opened yesterday by Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management as part of a broad effort to support the local business community.

The Babcock Demon Incubator, which has been on the planning board for nine months, aims to promote entrepreneurial education at the university and offers services and expertise to fledgling companies that have the potential for fast growth and significant economic impact in the Triad.

The incubator operates under the Babcock School's Angell Center for Entrepreneurship and is housed at 3455 University Parkway, a building owned by the university directly across from the main campus entrance.

"It's one of the most significant undertakings we're done," Stan Mandel, the director of the Angell Center and Babcock's executive professor of entrepreneurship, said at a news conference to launch the venture.
