Jan. 6--Oklahoma's drilling rig shortage could see a modest improvement soon because of Unit Corp.'s latest acquisition and construction plans, the company said Wednesday.
The Tulsa-based drilling company said it has completed its purchase of a subsidiary of Strata Drilling for $10.5 million. The deal includes one operational rig and a second rig expected to be operational by June, along with spare parts, inventory, drill pipe and other rig components, the company said.
