Byline: Teddy Greenstein
ORLANDO, Fla. _ Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz found an optimistic way to look at his team's overall health heading into Saturday's Capital One Bowl against LSU.
"Outside of the guys who have had surgery," he said, "we're pretty much at full strength."
Which might be like holding up an umbrella and saying that other than the rain, it's pretty much a nice day.
It's all relative for Iowa, which has done better than merely overcome adversity this season. The Hawkeyes have dominated it, earning a share of the Big Ten title by winning their last seven games.
Forget that they lost 10 players_including their top four running backs_to season-ending surgeries. That was only part of the challenge.
Ferentz lost his father, John, in October and attended his funeral just 24 hours before his players took the field against Penn State.
