Dec. 19--NEW DELHI, India -- The Baazee.com arrest has acquired diplomatic overtones, with US secretary of state-designate Condoleezza Rice reportedly taking personal interest in the welfare of Avnish Bajaj, CEO of Baazee.com.
Rice is said to have contacted David Mulford, the US Ambassador here, and asked him to prevail upon the Indian government to ensure Bajaj's safety.
Bajaj is a US citizen, and if convicted, he faces a prison term for several years.
