The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has received proposed new guidelines to protect personal information of consumers when they buy products bearing IC tags. It is expected to adopt the proposal from an advisory group this year after coordinating with other government offices. The proposal seeks to guard consumer privacy by requiring retailers to post information clearly stating that products have tags and to instruct consumers where the tags are located. They …
